Dear Member
Monday is the day we host one of the Regional Qualifiers for the 147th Open to be held at Carnoustie.
The Course and Practice facilities are closed from 3pm on Saturday, on Sunday for Practice Day and Monday for the 18 hole Qualifying round. Tuesday is a reserve day- If play is completed on Monday the Course will be open for members on Tuesday. The Clubhouse is open as usual for members and their guests on Sunday and Monday.
Due to the amount of players, the Club car park is restricted to players, caddies and officials. The staff are parking at Kedleston Hotel. I have arranged for members and spectators to park on the Hall's side of the 16th Hole. Drive through Kedleston Hall's main gate ( These will be open from 8am) park on the grass just short of the Adams Bridge and access the course at the gate behind the 17th Tee. The final preparations are underway to the course, the greens were groomed this morning and are just shy of 10 feet on the stimp. The greens are being cut at 3.5mm. Water will now not be applied to them until after Monday. The fairways are cut at 11mm with the first cut of rough at 30mm and the 2nd cut at 50mm. The course, if the weather forecast is to be believed will play as a true parkland course. The fairways with plenty of run on them but the greens will be firm making it imperative to be hitting an approach shot from the fairway to gain maximum control. The Blue tees will be used with the course measuring over 7000yards par 70 should provide a good test for the players

The R & A have asked for one change to the course and that is on the 10th Hole. The water hazard to the left of the green will be changed to a lateral water hazard for the day. There will be no drop zone.
The Water Hazard on 10 will be marked Red
On Monday the new 7th tee will be played it will make the hole 177 yards long. This is how the hole was originally designed to be played.

The new yardage discs are now in place on the fairway
The distance is to the centre of the greens in yards.
Thank you to all the members who have volunteered to help on the day. There are still a couple of opportunities if you wish to be involved. They are looking after the Driving range and commence at 6am and finish 10:45am. If you are interested please drop me an email
